This voyage begins in Olbia, Sardinia, where Florette sets her course north across the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian Seas. Offshore sailing days give a steady rhythm to life on board, punctuated by anchorages that offer a glimpse of Mediterranean towns and island landscapes.
The elements determine daily life on board, but you will quickly get used to the rhythm of the ship. A typical day will include some time at the helm, setting sails, meal prepping, navigation meetings with the captain and getting to know your fellow crewmates.
These waters are renowned for their varied sailing conditions, so each day presents fresh directions from the Captain and crew to make the most of the winds. Sailing through the Tyrrhenian Sea, you can usually expect steady prevailing winds and clearer days under blue skies at this time of year. The weather is never entirely predictable, so it’s better to be prepared for a variety of sailing conditions. This will be a rewarding offshore sailing experience, featuring changing sea states and plenty of time under sail. Perfect sailing for adventurers.
Arriving in Sète, guests can explore this historic working port on the Languedoc coast of France following disembarkation. Sète is widely known as the “Venice of the Languedoc” due to its network of canals and bridges, which give the city its unique character. It’s an excellent destination to find your land legs again while wandering among the traditional markets and lively quaysides after the crossing. Arriving just before the annual Escale à Sète festival, the city will be preparing to take over the streets, ports and waters with this major maritime festival.
As Florette is the Haines family home, you will be joined by their beautiful Spanish water dog, Lucy, who is hypoallergenic and does not venture below decks. Lucy is usually available for a stroke or fuss in your quieter moments throughout the day.
